Dr. Dana Sumpter is a leadership development consultant and organizational behavior scholar who helps organizations build more human-centered workplaces where people and performance can thrive.

Dana brings a unique blend of executive corporate experience and academic rigor to her work with leaders and organizations. She helps clients navigate change, strengthen leadership practices, improve workplace culture, and develop evidence-based strategies that support both employee well-being and organizational performance.

Experience & Education

Dana’s career spans executive human resources leadership, global leadership development, organizational change, and academic research. She is an Associate Professor of Organization Theory and Management at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, where her research and teaching focus on workplace dynamics, inclusion, employee well-being, and organizational effectiveness.

Earlier in her career, Dana served as Vice President of Human Resources at Citigroup, where she led executive training and coached senior leaders across ten Asia-Pacific nations. Her work has given her firsthand experience with diverse workplace challenges and global business contexts.

Dana earned a Ph.D. in Management from the University of California, Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business and a Master of Science in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the University of Illinois. She has traveled to more than 30 countries and has published extensively in academic journals and practitioner publications.
