COVID-19 Impacts on Business

March 26, 2020
Matthew Mitchell joins WHO-TV's We Are Iowa to discuss short-term and long-term impacts to Iowa's businesses

Matthew Mitchell said that there will be short term disruptions and long-term impacts due to the coronavirus. Short term disruptions are due to interruptions from China's supply chain.

"The pandemic may come in waves, even up to a second or a third, as in 1918," Mitchell said. "Employees need to think about that."

Mitchell said that Iowa's agricultural business will be impacted this year in its supply chain and in who is buying, but that the supply chains will slowly return to normal.

"The future is already here," Mitchell said. "It's just unevenly distributed. We can look at New York and Italy and know what to expect in Iowa so we are able to plan."
